Visas

Instruction for foreign citizens or stateless person arriving to the Russian Federation.

In order to enter Russia, you need a visa. To get invitations for the visa, you can apply to a Russian tourist agency, which is registered in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and has all the required licenses.

Documents for the visa:

Tourist visa is valid for maximum 30 days, one entry.

Russian Tourist Visa

  1. Your original passport with at least 2 blank visa-designated pages (passport must be valid for at least 6 months after intended departure date from Russia).
  2. Two copies of Russian visa application form, completed and signed.
  3. Two passport-size photos signed on the back.
  4. If Tour Group or Cruise Passenger: Letter from tour company or cruise line confirming itinerary and including a copy of the confirmation from authorized Russian travel company which shows the reference number and confirmation number for the visa.
  5. If Individual Travel: Confirmation of hotel arrangements from authorized Russian travel company, or directly from the Russian hotel, showing reference number and confirmation number for the visa.
  6. If entering Russia on a private car, the invitation must mention the model, registration number, vin-number and color of the car.

Invitation, insurance and hotel confirmation can be presented in photocopies.              

Russian Business Single, Double and Multiple-Entry Visa

  1. Your original passport with at least 2 blank visa-designated pages (passport must be valid for at least 6 months after intended departure date from Russia).
  2. Two copies of Russian visa application form, completed and signed.
  3. ONE passport-size photo signed on the back.
  4. For stay exceeding 3 months, or multi entry visa, a HIV test required.
  5. Official invitation from an organization authorized to invite business visitors to Russia.

Invitation must be done via the Ministry of Home Affairs or its local branches. You don't need to have hotel or cruise arrangements for business visa.

The invitation must contain the official stamp and legal address of the organization, the name and signature of the employee, responsible for the invitation. The embassy can ask for the original of invitation.

In three days after entering Russia you must register with the local migration office. If you stay at a private apartment, you can do this at a post office with the owner of the apartment. If you stay in the hotel, the registration is provided by hotel staff.
